The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner is a mid-size, dual-aisle, twin-engine jet. The primary structure is constructed from 50% composite materials, including the fuselage and wings. Measuring 187 feet long by 56 feet high and 6 inches, with a 197-foot wingspan, it can reach a speed of 593mph and fly as high as 43,000 feet. As part of a fleet renewal plane, American Airlines received its first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner in January 2015, launching an inaugural passenger flight from Dallas/Fort Worth to Chicago a few months later. Replacing older aircraft like the Boeing 767-300ER, it has been used for both domestic training flights and long-haul international routes that don't require a bigger aircraft like Chicago to London, and Dallas to Munich. It has also been used on flights to Central America and the Caribbean.
