con
SKU: EXE3848
This cast-molded pressurized resin scale model of the Lunar Excursion Module measures 5-1/2 inches long with a wingspan of 5-3/4 inches. It comes in 1/48 scale, is rendered in fine detail, and includes a base. All parts of the replica are rendered to the scale of its real-life counterpart, adding to its authenticity. Recommended for Ages 14+ The actual Lunar Excursion Module (LEM), also known as the Apollo Lunar Module, was the portion of the Apollo spacecraft that landed on the moon and returned to lunar orbit. The module was able to carry two astronauts. It measured 20 feet high and 14 feet across and rested on four legs. Prior to its famed landing as part of the Apollo 11 project, the Lunar Excursion Module participated in test flights, first in Earth orbit during Apollo 9, followed by lunar orbit during Apollo 10. The lunar module had to be discarded after use, because it could only be operated in outer space. It was structurally and aerodynamically incapable of flight through the Earth's atmosphere.
