This die-cast metal airplane model of the P-51D Man O'War comes in 1:100 scale with plastic stand and is approximately 4 inches long with a 4 and 1/2 inch wingspan. This detailed replica features the official Air Force insignia, and recreates the authentic striped wings, red nose, and famous "red tail." For Adult Collectors ages 14+. The Man O'War was capable of carrying a single pilot, was equipped with machine guns, rockets, and bombs, had a maximum speed of 440 mph, and could reach heights of 41,900 feet. Though it was shipped to England during World War II, it never saw combat there. However, it was put to use by the New Jersey National Guard and US Air Force during the Korean War. P-51D Man O'War was the final variant of the famous P-51D Mustangs, which had operated as bomber escorts in World War II. It ended up being featured in the 1957 film, BATTLE HYMN and is currently flown at air shows across America by Commemorative Air Force, out of the Palm Springs Air Museum.
